Festivals are larger than life celebrations of various things. They occur at regular intervals and helping in breaking the monotony of life. Festivals are the carriers of joy and peace in the communities. In the world, there are many festivals that are celebrated. However, India is one of the largest countries to celebrate numerous festivals. India has a rich culture, dating back several thousand years. Therefore, India celebrates the most number of cultural and religious festivals than any other country in the world.
India has
29 states and 7 Union territories with diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
India as a nation gets to celebrate festivals of different types, taste and
colours. Festivals are celebrated irrespective with religious and caste in the
country, bringing people closure and creating a strong bond of Humanity.
Right from
Childhood, every Indian are part of the festival. This helps them understand the
rituals of each festival and develop a liking for the festivals and
celebrations. As they grow older, they celebrate the festivals with full
potential to enjoy it thoroughly. A lot of Youngsters participating the festivals
like Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Christmas and Holi. These festivals
bring them closer to each other as well as the country.
In India, festivals
are divided into two general categories which are National and Religious.
National
festivals are celebrated all over India. It is celebrated in honour of
reputable people and events. It includes Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti,
Independence Day and many more. All the Citizens of different caste, religion
celebrates the festivals. These festivals are come with Holidays all over
the country and are enjoyed with great enthusiasm. The Capital of India, New
Delhi which is mainly centred during these festivals. The flag hosting celebration
in Independence Day or grand parade of the Republic Day which is broadcasted
on national television for the whole country to see.
The
Religious festivals are celebrated not only in India but throughout the world.
Some of the prominent festivals are Diwali, Holi, Christmas and Eid-Ul-Fitr.
Diwali, Holi and Ganesh Chaturthi are most prominent festivals in Hindu Region.
They are very colourful and full of lights. Ganesh Chaturthi is a major festival
in Malaysia as well. The only country on earth to have Lord Ganesha on a currency
note is the largest Muslim populated country which is Indonesia. Eid-Ul-Fitr is
an Islamic festival which celebrates the end of Ramadan. Christmas celebrates
the birthday of Jesus Christ. It is about Christmas trees and Santa clause.
Festivals are very important for societies bonding. They make us forget our cultural and religious differences. They unite people and come together for the sole purpose of celebration and happiness. They are very helpful for breaking the monotony of life. A lot of People Livelihood depend on these festivals. People also repair their homes and paint them before the festival season. It beautifies the look of the locality. Festivals are filled our lives with happiness and enthusiasm. They bring us closer every year and eliminate any feeling of communal hatred. Therefore, festivals are quite important and must be celebrated with passion.
