What is Technology?

We are living in the digital world and always connected with computers, mobile, tablets etc. Just a few decades back, people finished their work at 6 PM and packed their bags, relax at their home. Now a day’s people are working 24*7 and because of technology, our lives are greatly improved. We are more connected with the world than ever before. However, when it comes to balancing with our personal lives, it presents several pros and cons for work-life balance.

Easier to work remotely –

Due to this COVID-19, most of the people work remotely. Working from home, or coffee place is commonplace for many companies. It increases productivity, greater satisfaction and greater retention. While doing work from home we need a Mobile phone and internet connectivity which is easily accessible. While this allows employees to be readily available at any point, it is especially important to set boundaries for managers and other team members. It allows me to fulfil both my professional and personal responsibilities.

 

Become more efficient –

For achieving the healthy work-life balance would be impossible without technology. Advances in technology also making our life more efficient. From time-saving apps to digital storage apps that help reduce clutter. Many daily tasks are automated, that increases the efficiency in work and with better efficiency more time spend time with friends and family, to follow your passion. It also enhances work-life balance.


We are always accessible –

There are multiple devices available in the market like mobiles, tablets because of these we are always accessible and connected with the digital world. Technology that gives employees the ability to work anywhere at any time and also leaves them contactable by their employers anywhere at any time. Even if they are not strictly ‘on-call’, there is a sense of urgency that comes with constant notifications and incoming emails.

 

More Learning Aspect –

 Because of technologies we are always updated. There are a number of websites, videos sites where we learn on any topic which is interested. If you update with the technology then it will helpful for stick into the market. New technology also can cause conflict. Because of newer tools and technologies could also cause conflict between different generations.

 

Using Wellness apps for work-life balance –

 Employees are the biggest resource for any company. That’s why the company encourage the use of wellness app to promote their health and well-being. There are multiple apps which provide means of getting centred. There are apps which help you to find a moment of peace in rush hours of the office. Employers can aid employees to get centred by encouraging them to take periodic breaks during office hours. This can be done by using reminders on the office’s calendar app. This is a way to develop good work-life balance where small breaks can give you more power to work better.

 Technology is helpful for maintaining a work-life balance. There is no good or bad side of technologies. It all depends upon how you use it. Use technology to keep you centred, productive and connected. Emerging technologies are loaded with new and valuable features, and by being a smart user, you can excel in work without compromising on your personal life.
