Independence Day Special

India – Are we really Independent?

On 15th August 2020, India celebrates its 73rd Independence Day to salute its freedom from the British Rule in 1947. Citizens of India pay respect to freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for gaining independence from the “British Raaj”. Indian leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Lokmanya Tilak, Bhagat Singh, Sarojini Naidu, Chandrasekhar Azad, and many more took part in this freedom struggle in different periods of time. Independence Day in India marks the partition of India and Pakistan.

India is a diverse country with different religions, castes and cultures. Yet Independence unites us all as “Indians”. A great celebration is organized in Delhi at Red fort. Several patriotic movies and programs are broadcasted on Television. Not only India, but five more countries in the world including Liechtenstein, Bahrain, Republic of Congo, North, and South Korea celebrate their independence on the same day.

The one-sixth population of the world lives in India. India is in 2nd position in population. One-fifth of it is the population of youth in India. But still, most of the people are struggling for Roti, Kapda, and Makaan. It is true that beyond the middle class, there is still a struggle to make ends meet in India. A lot of schemes are present for lower-class peoples but most of the money diverted into the pockets of corrupt officials.

Many of the farmers are still struggling for earning Rs.100 per day. They grow their own food in light of the rising inflation. Farmers depend on rain, if the rain is excess, their crops get destroyed. There is a constant struggle for Roti, Kapda and Makaan. One part of society is growing rapidly and the other part is struggling for basic needs, hence showing inequality amongst societies.

Other factors are Unemployment, Religious zeal, Women Safety, and Education. These things have also impacted India and its economy. We still import more and export less, not self-dependent. From the last 73 years, political parties ruling India shows a lot of dreams to the common man but still has not achieved sustainable growth in all sectors.

After 70 years of Independence India has done tremendous progress in Information Technology, Infrastructure, Teleservices, HealthCare systems, and many more. Indians are playing an important role in changing the way technology works. Most of the top company CEOs are Indians like Sunder Pichai from Google, Satya Nadella from Microsoft, Shantanu Narayen from Adobe Systems, and many more. It's a proud feeling that people from our country are making their mark in the world.

We haven’t won the battle yet, we are in the middle of it. We celebrate this Independence Day for those who are at the borders protecting us, for the CORONA Warriors and those who are given a contribution to Nation’s Development. Celebrate this Independence Day not for Make in India but for Make with India.

Request to all – Respect our National Flag not only today but every day. Request you to not throw away the flags after celebrations.
