Television

Television – Is It Really an Idiot Box??

TV is one of the important part of everyone’s life. It is an integral part of any household items. We are treated as a Family member. If for one day TV goes off, we all feel sick for it. It is one of the greatest inventions of Human beings. It became popular among all types of society people. Initially, it was a sign of only Rich people now in every home minimum one TV is available. It starts with a black and white screen with buttons now technology changed with remote, smart TVs, foldable TVs. It provides sound and pictures at the same time and their quality is improving day by day.

Every invention there are two different sites. For TV there are positive and negative views. In today’s world Information is everywhere. If you see something on TV, at a time millions of peoples are also seeing it. Hence Television is a trusted platform for news, culture, sports. Because of TV, we know what happened in the world or in our nation. We can watch the news, programs, and elections activities from every part of the country. There is no age boundary for watching TV. Kids are watching their cartoons, the Young crowd is watching for movies, news, and elderly people watching for news and women watching their serials for gossiping.

Watching television with family is not a bad thing, but too much of it can affect our thinking and change our personality. Noise pollution also created by Television. The Biggest drawback of sitting in front of the television screen is the setback to good health. In the absence of physical work, the muscular movements are minimal now, leading to stiffness of jointsSpending too much time with television it means you have less time for interacting with family and friends. TV has very limited use in our day to day life. But we have given more importance than it deserves. We see in many houses keep their TV sets ON for the complete day from morning 7 am to listen to religious speech or Yoga. Then they will watch News and after that daily SOAP till afternoon than in evening movies or daily soap then night again News till they go to sleep.

TV is actually also used for good purposes like for some good sports or any education thing related. The stress level is reduced after watching comedy shows on TV. Millions of people watch TV to kill their boredom. I feel that “nobody has gained knowledge from TV”. Knowledge is gained from an actual world where we can think practically and explore them.

In order to have peace of mind the most important thing is to relax to your brain. Which can be done only absence of noise. Sit with your family and make sure to turn off the TV. Have a casual conversation with them. Do not waste time sitting in front of the TV as time once lost cannot be got back and you will then either blame yourself or your idiot box. It becomes the individual responsibility of the viewers to watch, in limits, for the optimum gain.

  2. TV is a companion to many during these days of forced isolation. Hopefully, this will all end and we'll be able to enjoy real, human company again. When we do, and to your point, we will need to focus on one another and not on the TV.

  3. I agree you should NOT watch the news all the time as most of it is bad stuff. But if you
have children you can always sit around the dinner table and discuss current events, a
way to get them interested in public service and politics later on.
